You would be highly incorrect. Most employers have a border of a 3.5 GPA or higher as a cutoff. Beyond that, they really care little. If you have a 4.0, you might get some extra "points" in their eyes. And for those of you who don't believe

Caldera isn't really that large of a milestone. And this article is definitely missing Gentoo. In today's world, the power users swing towards Gentoo and the rest towards Ubuntu (or fedora). Everyone else just falls somewhere in the other d

Its ridiculous that so many sites do this. Especially since it takes all of 2 seconds to activate a salting + hashing function in current web frameworks of today...and if you're not on a framework, it takes all of 30 seconds to write your o

I don't understand what's so interesting about MIT's linear algebra course... It seems pretty standard. Penn State and Pitt's cover the exact same course material. And theirs is pretty equivalent to CMU's Matrix Algebra (which covers a bit

The major problem with facebook is that they really don't care much about their users. I know enough friends that work there to know that they believe users will just "deal" and eventually get used to the new way of doing things.

Haha, seems like someone's getting a little worked up. I do research for the guy. Obviously I support what he does. After all, aren't you supposed to learn from the best professors at your university? However, Von Ahn doesn't get to pick an

In addition, this is the year 2009. SQL INJECTION by a company this big? Thats rather sad. My final project in class gets and instant 0/100 (40% of the grade) if SQL injection was possible...

As far as I can tell, its going to be permanent. The setup would require that a speaker system be ripped out of a wall for it to be taken down (a little drastic for a class experiment).

So reCaptcha's basis is a new field known as Human Computation that Luis invented himself. The term was coined in his Ph.D thesis. Google, however, has been the only company to really embrace Human Computation so it's not really a huge surp

I'm currently doing research for Luis as part of Gwap, and as far as I can say, he's going to remain on the faculty at CMU but also work for Google out of the Google PGH offices. He's no longer teaching 251, however, which is what he's famo
