I read this and thought, “surely there’s an OS-level DNS cache?” Apparently not on Linux! https://stackoverflow.com/questions/11020027/dns-caching-in-...

We were in WAY worse shape back then. IE6 was closed source, under-resourced (after they gained market dominance), and MS had every incentive to suppress the progress of web technologies once they ran the table. I’m not saying we shouldn’t

Huh, I’m wrong. Apparently variable fonts were added to OpenType only recently: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_fonts (I think the features I was thinking of were ligatures and lowercase numbers)

I think all else being equal, yes? C# is very complicated and LINQ is an extremely complicated language feature, but if I need to express something that fits well with LINQ it’s stunningly clear. ES2017 has destructuring and async/awai

That’s so interesting to me, I totally have had that experience specifically with Go! The lack of exceptions and genetics contribute greatly to Go’s simplicity but I have always felt like my code suffers for it. Do you find that your Go cod

I was surprised how little difference using a 60W instead of 87W charger mattered for MBP15, at least according to this article the actual power draw and recharge rate were pretty close: https://9to5mac.com/2018/09/

I think jdmichal’s point was that if you don’t own a property, you’ll lose money (in the form of increased rent) if the real estate market goes up. In effect, you are born with a short position on the market just by needing a place to live,

When you take out a loan, it doesn't decrease your net worth, right? If I'm worth $X, then I take out a $1MM loan, at that moment I'm still worth approximately $X (because the $1MM the bank gave me and $1MM I owe the bank can
