What I meant was you can easily add a correlation id to your logs, and send those to wherever you collect and query the logs. Then using that you can easily see the log across your services. So there isn’t any manual stitching in the loggi

It is a config away in C# world, and even when it wasn’t so in built it was very simple to add to structured logging.

I think you’re overstating the decline. But yes too much democracy in Brexit and a badly designed democracy with the first past the post system. Widespread apathy to politics doesn’t help either.

That report missed that the issue was because the cap was designed to prevent suppliers exploiting customers who don’t switch supplier regularly to get better deals. It ended up with smaller suppliers that act as brokers to lose money in th

If paying your energy bill or losing your job is going to be an issue you don’t want to put a huge sum of cash into an illiquid asset like a house. You want that cash to remain available.

Founder led companies or where the staff includes some product visionary seems to solve that. It’s not common though at all and not long lasting. In my experience when the non technical or accountant types inevitably start calling the shots

I think there’s a spectrum here on the one end you could be doing the work on the other end doing something that’s completely procrastinating like watching unrelated TikTok videos. And doing the work isn’t necessarily always best because yo

That’s an interesting distinction. I think the in-between is the worst. At least with Gary V you know you’re getting energy and motivation. Another YouTube video skimming over lessons from Atomic Habits for the hundredth time is the mindles

I’m not sure of that, tit for tat does well as a strategy. Also lawmakers change every so often and usually love to pick over the negatives from their predecessor’s time and do things differently.

The article isn’t saying the venues were abandoned but more that they didn’t fulfil the promises on affordable housing.

Isn’t the usual problem that most of these venues are just simply left to rot? That’s not the case for London. The problem this piece highlights is “just” that the redevelopment didn’t fulfil the promises on affordable housing. It’s a lovel

That definition assumes the code is reasonably performant or that they didn’t just begin on the cloud for whatever (often not well thought out) reason.

I wonder if anyone on HN could tell us how well optimised the code is on these? I imagine the simulations are complicated enough without someone going in and adding some performance optimisation.

Just that the convention is different. It is just the third rung on the ladder in the finance world. You might manage a small team of junior staff.

OP says he has friends that say they only use Messenger or only Signal etc, and everyone has their own preference. Sounds like they have the right idea! Why be the only one accommodating everybody.

Finance firms do use three of the four side effects on the Excel spreadsheet. It’s not the most accessible feature but it is there and easily added with the Excel API. In fact all four are achievable.

Unless you’re at work, on vacation or meant to be spending time with others at dinner or some social event it’s ok to waste time on the internet. You were not going to do something useful anyway. Before the internet people watched too much

I know it’s deliberate, but let’s be honest why would we expect them to make it simple when it isn’t in their interests. I’m saying take it out of their hands now and give users the control they need.

I agree, a preference set at the browser level would be far more effective. The current implementations inconvenience the user to the point that they don’t want to go through the hassle of entering their preferences.

You’re over complicating it. If you *want* kids then have them. That’s perfectly reasonable. If you’re in you thirties and have the adult basics down you’re ready for kids. Kids are hard work but also they’re cute and add a lot of joy to li

You’re not the only ones doing it. The idea is developers do more testing, they think about it upfront and they have assistance from a QA lead who leads and coaches the quality culture across the development team. That QA leads embeds the s
