I think it's fine to invest in say battery technology. In Europe IIRC, for example, doctors are not allowed to advertise. Not considered ethical. In this article, the for profit medical system has placed ethics so far behind money. It&

It shocks me to see the end game of a culture where the ONLY incentive is financial gain. Doctors performing unnecessary surgery making 90k per week. Shameless. And everyone is making money, laser makers etc, everyone else doesn't dism

Discovered Joscha Bach on a Lex Friedman podcast earlier this year, and found him a clear and coherent philosopher. I wanted to share this latest interview which discusses among other topics the AI doomerism narrative.

It's irritatingly cautious. Batman, James Bond, papa smurf... If you say a man in a Batman suit it'll draw Batman though... With their reasoning it seems that any kid drawing a Batman logo on their notebook is breaking some IP law

U7 was amazing! My heart still belongs to Ultima V though! Meditating at the Shrines, developing virtue, learning how to talk to people ("NAME", "JOB"), truly formative experience for me. Got lost without the current day

Nice to see you name them as a pair. Very often, people seem to focus on Metta only, maybe due to the focus on this Sutta. To my understanding, Compassion / Lovingkindness are linked and often arise together, and it's a bit odd to

Yeah I'd also recommend this (and Last of Men) by Olaf Stapledon. Written in the 30s, it shows an incredible breadth of vision in space and time.
