GitKraken allows you to set "pull fast-forward only" or "pull rebase" as the default, very nice. This gets you out of most of those problems. You can also do merge by dragging branches in the GUI which for me lowers the

Was it really a manual process? I read it as some system importing info automatically. And if it was manual I am surprised that Excel did not complain about adding more than 65000 rows (or saving more than 65000 rows as XLS). If a user gets

I think this depends on if you are talking about figuring out what contract a company had some time ago (say 18 months), or if you talk about the current default value. The last one should be very easy to find in the code and if you are mig

And probably add logic to allow the web server to restart the process if it should fail/crash and maybe recycle it ever Nth hour. Bad C++ code could easily make your process crash.

Agree India should have been included. But they measured deaths per capita and I think India is still very low on that scale. Could be more interesting to include both deaths and hospitalized or do another comparison but then include all vo

As a parent to teenagers I can say that they seem to be able to sit still in front of a computer for _hours_ as long as it is a game or a tv-show they like. (I agree that it was a bit optimistic to expect this of 5 year olds)

Sounds like a security disaster for non-technical users. It is much better to trust a specific app from now on than to trust the entire internet from now on.

I can't stop thinking about what would happen if someone steals Trumps Twitter account and starts sending fake tweets. I am sure the White House would classify it as a security issue.

I am starting to think that Confluence does this with Kafka also. There are a number of articles saying that it can be used as a db. Very unclear where the limitations are.

I think there is a huge difference between web sites and web applications. Most large applications today uses SPA and an api. The api can be done in any backend language and there is not many obvious benfits of using php but some clear draw

For scaling I assume some cloud solution or very distributed solution is better than PostgreSQL. For example Azure SQL Database Hyperscale or CockroachDb. https://redmondmag.com/articles/2019/07/03/micros

SQL Server can also do storage compression. I assume Oracle can too. It used to be that the commercial offerings had the most advanced features first and the OSS systems copied them later.

All times I have seen systems using db security as the main security solution they have gotten into a lot of problems later and most of them changed.

I have mainly used SQL Server but some Oracle and Informix earlier. I think all of these has been rock solid. When working as a consultant you rarely hear anyone saying that the db was instable.

Great demo, even though I don't agree that it is easy to understand. I have to try a larger program and see what it emits but I don't think junior developers will think it is easy. And trying to find your bugs if you connect thing

I don't use context so I don't know if this is true or not. It might think it has to re-render since the context could affect anything below a component. It should however use the virtual DOM to diff first and not update the actua

I am afraid that the free model of their service will not work very well if tens of thousands of teams start to use this now. It is easier to trust the known brands and organizations that also charges a bit when you use their system a lot.
