I think Chris Anderson meant that Gilder was correctly anticipating a company like YouTube: one that would "waste" bandwidth. The people who could capture that revenue model would win, and did.

You're the best! Around! Nothing's ever gonna keep you down! Great story. I appreciated the Karate Kid and Indiana Jones references.

Actually, I did claim to be motivated by money. I said the only thing that motivates me more than money is history. I don't necessarily associate fame (or celebrity) with being remembered. There are many great filmmakers or company founde

This is exactly what I thought as I read the article. We're talking about an entire generation of young workers who might not be able to reach their full financial potential (as measured against the past six years, at least). But you're ri

This an older article from WIRED (March 2007). A writer was able to buy votes to a lame, made-up blog post. http://www.wired.com/techbiz/people/news/2007/03/72832 I'll try to find something newer.

Alaskamiller, I noticed your comment at the top of the TC post: "Chris Sacca = Google buyout within a year." I agree. If I founded a YC Company, or any other startup, I'd look at Omnisio's story and think about duplicating it. Clearly Chr

That's very true, but that's also what's so exciting about this whole movement. We're in the middle of something pretty special. An all YC Founders at Work would tell the story of a few exits, but it could also get into the details of som

The key is to recommend the products you are advertising. Don't hide away the ads like they are something of which to be ashamed. Find a product or brand you like, and honestly recommend them. Have a header that says "Products we admire"

Very functional. Good tips. I think the "instant improvement" button should be renamed. I was looking for a "submit" button or a "show suggestions" button. Instant improvement almost implies that the changes will be made automatically. Pl

The blurb about your site with the "join now" button looks like an ad because of the placement and because it is roughly 300x250 pixels. Cool logo.

About 8 years ago I remember reading an advice column in which the letter writer was concerned because her child's friends were all reading Harry Potter. She referenced this article: http://www.theonion.com/content/news/harry_potter_books

I wonder what this means for Adpinion. If this works for Facebook, will ad-voting become more mainstream? If so, Adpinion is in a pretty good position. Or do they feel like Facebook is stealing their idea?

Anyone read Crichton's novel 'State of Fear'? There is a lot of ridiculousness in those pages (along with a pretty weak plot), but his comments about Fearmongering in the media for profit made a lot of sense. I just get tired of being told
