IMHO i think they didn't hire a designer for this, although it looks nicer than what it was, the output seems very amateurish for today standars.

IMHO, why don't you use Inkscape for web design prototypes, since it interface and behaviors are more suited to it? I don't understand the need to use a Photo manipulation tool for that.

Remember that you can use Backbone Models and Collections and Router with Reactjs only caring for events and views. They really work pretty well.
