A small tool to align two versions of a video with each other, that have the same video (e.g same cut of a show or movie), but different audio tracks, so that the audio track from one can be merged into the other. The primary use case is to

Ah, that's great, didn't know about that :-) It seems to use a similar edit-distance algorithm under the hood, and the docs explicitely mention integration with the FTS extension, so this is probably the way to go!

One thing you could do: FTS5 has the `fts5vocab` virtual table [1] that has all the terms. You could provide a user-defined function that computes the levenshtein distance between your query terms and the terms in that table, obtain candida

Not by default, no. But you could kind of implement it by providing a custom tokenizer that emits multiple terms for the same position in the document, with different variants of the same token. This would not be "proper" fuzzy se

I'd go as far as claiming that the WASM port of SQLite with FTS5 enabled makes SQLite the best general purpose client-side search engine currently on the market. And with the option to further customize it with custom tokenizers and au

Not for strings, no. The default algorithm would be Levenshtein edit distance and friends (i.e. what this library uses). If you want to get fancy, you could even go for something like Levenshtein automata (which are used by Lucene to implem

Writing the software for an earlier version of this was one of the first open source projects I ever did, with an early 0.1x release of React, fond memories So great to see the project is still alive.

I found that most of the time it was worth the time to invest a few hours/days into implementing the missing feature with Lua/OpenResty, if there wasn't already an Open Source extension available on GitHub.

Have you tried setting up a JMH benchmark? This should allow you to see if the JIT is the cause of your slowdowns. Also, running it under a profiler (I recommend async-profiler[1]) should give you a good idea of where the slowdown occurs

Yeah, this is definitely one of GitLab's weakest points at the moment and seriously impacts day-to-day work here as well. Simple features like ticking off files you've already reviewed are missing and even mid-sized MRs are a pain
