Many comments here and on similar posts bring up only keeping Windows for games, and only then for games that require heavy anti-cheat. Is there a reason there couldn't be non-regulation copies of games that don't do anti-cheat bu

I'm unclear on why F-Droid is any safer than the playstore and not possibly worse since using it tells potential malware purveyors that you're into sideloading in the first place.

Thank you for Fastmail and thank you for the very well thought out keyboard-driven web interface. It's good enough, I rarely use mutt anymore. If I could sort by label, it'd be perfect.

I was delighted to see manhole covers with SPQR on them in Rome.

It's my duty bring up that plain TeX, the Knuth language in which the large macro collection LaTeX is written, isn't as verbose and opaque as LaTeX when people complain about that. It has the opposite problem where you may have mo

When I installed matrix, I thought it was an example of FOSS UI being crummy. Then I found out they were actually doing a good job of emulating discord.

I can hear their voices in my head while reading that. Especially how Mark says "forever".

I like the argument that God of course knows all the loopholes, so left them around as Easter eggs for us to find and is proud when we do.

Makes sense to me. I remembered hybrids degrading to a regular transmission when the battery was low. Sounds like if the battery were drained the ICE goes straight into electricity generation?

by jbaber 1y ago
How is it possible that a hybrid, which contains an ICE, is simpler than just an ICE?

It's funny looking at the theropod (e.g. T. Rex) family tree compared to ours. Bipedal animals whose forelimbs shrink and jaws grow. No way they're making tools.

I thought it was from residents of jerkwater towns.

I'm around that age and still have "some poor jerk" in my vocabulary. Any other use than that specific one still has the modern meaning for me.

I used to just get the "veggie whopper" i.e. all of the fixings, but no pattie at all. There were enough bread, mayo, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese that I got plenty of calories and felt full.

At this point, how much does Microsoft make per license? Like cost to customer and/or OEM for the system, plus selling scraped user data? $100 or something? Maybe they could make as much just selling perfect Linux binaries of Excel, Wo

PVG 100 worked great with my carrier.

by jbaber 1y ago
I, too, used a PVG100 until it died. The "juicepack" battery doubled the thickness, but it still fit in my pocket. Now I've got a Motorola Razr. I figure the only way companies will give me a small phone if it folds.
