I also think a big part of it is that it’s becoming more and more easy to cheat your way through life in many respects. Many people always chase the thing that makes the most money, and they’ll take every shortcut they can to get it. And th

Exactly, this is very old C++ on display in this article. It’s certainly not as safe as a language like Rust, but quite a lot of undefended behavior and things that will shoot yourself in the foot have been changed over the last 10 years. M

Some of the C++ code in this article has not been idiomatic in over a decade, and would be considered a code smell today. The language has evolved into quite a different language than when it was first created. As soon as I saw all of those

Outside North America just about every country I’ve ever lived in or visited had assigned movie ticket seats.

Funny, I have the complete opposite impression after using claude code for a while. I would never trust it to design anything. Never again. But it can code pretty well given a very tight and limited scope.

It’s a sad side effect of the AI revolution that no one knows what is real and trustworthy anymore. I saw a “rare” photo someone shared on Reddit of Hitler and it received tons of comments until it was pointed out that it’s definitely not a

The thing about emacs and muscle memory is that all of the standard emacs keyboard shortcuts are also the standard all throughout the Mac operating system, so when you’re writing in text boxes in a webpage, writing in a Google doc, anywhere

I used emacs full-time for many many years. Then I switched to Vim or other editors with Vim modes, also for many years. I have to be honest, I don’t see a particularly clear winner between them. Model editing is a bit unusual in many ways.

This is definitely not correct in my opinion. You’re essentially saying, instead of a person actually getting better at the craft, just give up and let someone else do it.

I've always wondered how something so old and in one place so long is just sitting on top of the soil so easily found. How did it go for such a long time not noticed?

That's addressed in the article: unlikely to be a collector who lost the coin. The coin was just one of many artifacts discovered in that area over the last 75 years.

You are getting down voted but the first thing I thought when I read the above comment you replied to was that it was written by an LLM as well. It has all the stylings of it. Word choice, sentence structure, phrasing, metaphors, etc.

This is a good example why "mean" and "median" have very different meanings. You can't use an average of life expectancy in an era where a huge percentage of people died before age 5. It's not a useful statisti

I have to agree that the comment you are referring to seems to be nothing other than sarcasm despite that it doesn’t read that way at all. If it’s true, the world is definitely in trouble…

My take is that it will be somewhat similar though perhaps more complex to using sample based libraries, whether it’s for electronic music, symphonic loops, etc., I feel like this will just be the next generation of that kind of music makin
