Do you have any idea where their datacentres are? They claim they're 6x faster than S3 but I'll bet it's 20 times slower with latency unless they have a Sydney datacentre. You'd think this is info they'd put somewhe

I know next to nothing about today's shooting and was not suggesting today's is a mass shooting. I hope, for the sake of all those involved, that it isn't.

You're right, and thank you for taking the time to add this extra context. This is why I said "big" mass shooting, even though that extra word seems redundant. It looks like only two people were killed in that Sydney hostage

I'm genuinely interested what message you were trying to send with that link? I'm Australian.

We have individual murders, but our last big mass shooting was in the 90s. USA has one every day. Your comment seems to deliberately misinterpret the situation.

Just to put this into perspective, I don't remember the last big mass shooting in Australia. It was just that long ago. I guess this allows us to focus on reducing other forms of violence, like the "one punch can kill" campai

I have no problem with people pointing out errors and new ideas to me. It's how we learn. That's not what I was referring to. It was more the calling me a "bad statistician", the "do not pass go", the "lea

@bitumen, calling names is saying: "you are a pompous person". It is very different to saying "you are being pompous".

by jazoom 9y ago
You're being pompous. I never claimed to have those things. Re-read my original comment with my edit and you will see why I believe your statistics in fact do not answer the question of how meaningful Uber's fatality is. I doubt

Then that number becomes arbitrary. If it was measured in deaths per lightyear your 'n' would become 0. You know what I meant when I said "n=1".

Same reason clinical trials stop early if someone dies. It might just be bad luck. Unfortunately we'll never know and that drug might never be tested again. It might have been an amazing drug. In this case, based on how it played out,

I know CSS very well and I really don't like it. I can't wait until components make all the ridiculousness of "cascading" go away. Explicit inheritance would be far less messy IMO. I currently use Vue and I scope as much

As an Australian this is what we've had to deal with for decades. We don't produce much pollution but the hole is largely over us and giving us skin cancer.
