That speaks to the relative intrusiveness of those ads, and the quality of the ads as well. Newspaper advertising was generally well distributed so that it didn't interfere with reading, and its black and white on paper look wasn'

The idea of paying for services online that most people expect to get for free is great, actually. There was a time when you simply expected to pay for anything that had value. Whether that was a newspaper, a magazine, a movie, music, or ev

And it seems that absolutely no one involved is concerned with the potential uses for evil, so long as they're in line to make a couple dollars.

The first thing I'd consider is what changed when we went from 100kbps to 100Mbps. Now, we share complete video files and music files, whereas before we shared vector-like files such as Flash and MIDI. What are we doing locally today t

This looks like exactly the kind of thing I've been searching for, and I'm happy to pay a one-time price. I'd much rather own than subscribe. Two things: 1. Will the local storage version be dependent at all on your servers?

I like this a lot. It's very close to something I've wanted, basically a Twitter that no one else can see but me. I could see myself using this all the time, and making it my primary note-taking app. But I won't. Here's

Whoever made this doesn't understand why people create and listen to music. It's an interesting tech demo, but as an actual product that lives in the world, it's dystopian af.

I fear the flagging is most likely by people who sympathize with Balaji's worldview, and don't like reading the comments criticizing it.

From a gaming perspective, I agree that Flash was excellent. The current era of ad-filled pay to win games does suck.

I was developing Flash since before it was called Flash, back when it was called FutureSplash Animator. I'm not talking about the IDE, I'm talking about the user experience that could be created with Flash. As a UX professional, t

IMO, Flash died because it didn't play nice with the conventions of the web. There were workarounds, but generally it broke all of the things HTML could do, like being searchable & selectable, navigable with a keyboard, built of co

It seems like OldNews has a very limited set of papers, I couldn't find results from any of the major newspapers (NY Times, WaPo, Chicago Trib, etc) or from a sampling of local papers that I tried.
