As the article states, lawyers aren't allowed in small claims court. The same para-legal would have sufficed with better preparation -- finding out the reasoning for account termination (i.e., non-content domain).

AFAIK, to win a small claims court, you still have to prove that you deserve the money. I see nowhere in the story he admits to the judge that he violated to ToS. He simply used the lack of customer service at Google/AdSense to win this cas

Looks like Googe send in a pretty useless paralegal to defend their case. Instead, if they had send you (or someone with the same arguments as you), they'd have probably won. I think it is fairly obvious what this guy did wrong. I am just s

Top marginal rate is 35% now. The SSI stops after 105k (or so), so it is immaterial, because the marginal fed tax rate is 28% at that point. True that state income tax is a big one, for some states. So I completely didn't bundle that in my

Wow, I believe this is the first-ever "security guarantee" payout by DJB? Not bad!, not bad at all!, considering how popular both qmail and djbdns are.

Please don't find it insulting when I say I find your numbers hard to believe. A claim of a marginal tax rate of 75% without any solid numbers is hardly doing justice your thesis. If you'd give a more detailed breakdown, your case would not

This list is deceptively compact.. so many experiences summarized in so little space. Yes, I agree: nothing really unheard of...but all presented succinctly in one place by one cogent voice. Absolutely superfluous comment: I heart pg.

I am not sure you understand how hedging works. You don't go short and long on the same stock to hedge. You generally take one position (long or short) on the stock you are speculating on, and you take the opposite position with stocks in i

Hmmm, we didn't even look at age when reviewing applicants -- so I am not I sure I buy your argument that a school would "flatly reject" someone based on age. Further, I am not sure if that would be even legal (in the US).

To be frank about it: with a 5+ year break and coming from a "lowly" state university, it is going to be tough to get into the type of CS PhD programs you have listed. Most schools do run a low pass filter on your GRE scores (if required) a
