Quite the opposite, I try hard to keep my brain working while dozing off and while waking up .. and as much as possible when I am drifting in and out from consciousness, because sometimes that's how I find a solution to a problem that I hav

A quote from that I keep close to my heart: "Courage is not the absence of failure, courage is acting in spite of fear." (Carly Fiorina) In your case, if I were you, after I get off my ass to a networking event, I'd be thinking, "hell, I di

Beware of the downsides: e.g. if you accrue many days of "illegal" status, then let's say your mom is sick back in the UK, you go home to see her, and now when you want to re-enter, immigration's going to say, "yeah - sorry, we remember you

You cannot just "rig" it; if you've looked closely at the law (I have), there's a whole checklist of items that prevents you from doing exactly just that. For starters, the company that employs you has to show a track record of profitabilit

Alain, I'm actually very sure that small companies do have more trouble. For one, they have to prove that they (have revenue/are profitable) for X months. If you're a budding Twitter or Facebook in the early days, your revenue is $0 and y

it's a fair and legitimate point that it's easier for already famous people to get their company acquired than it is for a nobody <-- you are pointing out the obvious. And your point? It's naive to think that only products remarkable by

I detest the subtle jab at FriendFeed. Seriously, what are you going to say next? That the world is not fair? Only the 'remarkable' by your standards should see market success? That is wrong to get lucky, to be at the right place and right
