I wonder if you have had the chance to use a Jetbrains IDE with a professional license. Doing so gives you access to more or less the content of all the other "flavors" as plugins (it's basically all IntelliJ underneath). For

With regards to the battery issues, I'd suggest seeing if the TLP utility is available in your distro's packages. It's more than doubled battery "life" (== time to discharge) for me.

I disagree that it must be seen as a punishment; once you've attained your degree you no longer need to go to school, but going to school probably wasn't a punishment in the first place. I guess it depends on your personal outlook

Not surprising that you made those connections: one of the main devs and creators of Factorio have mentioned that the game arose in part from their frustrations with the poor scalability of tech/industrial Minecraft mods. Specifically,

I find it interesting that you mention easily grokking backpressure in Factorio yet have more difficulty with blueprints. In my experience, people "get" blueprints much earlier on than even the idea of backpressure. Given you say

As a former maths student, I loved the "compressibility" of using symbols for things like "forAll" and "thereExists". They're quicker to write and allow fitting in more information in less space, two quali

Often, and notably in the case of school lockers, there is a huge difference in bypassing a lock using a method that leaves traces of your passage and using a method that renders your infraction undetectable - or at least undetected.

One could argue the comparison still holds for developers of video games - as long as the game's code is not touched upon release. Used to be the norm, nowadays admittedly seems to be disappearing.
