That's strange. For me the persuasive essay with clear thesis and supporting evidence was the major format that was pushed.

Ironically they leave out a real comparison to television shows, or episodic content like comic books. Are these forms of media broken if you don't watch every episode of every season of a show? Doubtful.

Games fundamentally require loops because they require skill. You learn through failure and repetition. Games have the trouble that users have very different appetites for the gameplay. Some want short games, some want 1000s of hours for

My capex is even less than Apple, I can ship to user's Apple hardware and I can't access iPhone user photos either...so really I'm the winner.

Sure, but it seemed to be that any backups at all were being called too frivolous.

Why go live if you don't have a reasonable expectation of users? Worrying about HA when you don't have customers that need it is one thing, but I wouldn't want to be in a place where I have to put a banner on the website aski

Corruption is surprisingly cheap. That doesn't mean we should ignore or allow it.

So the argument is just "AI is magic and any kind of software can be rewritten for free"? Not really sure I buy it...

This means that all copyleft is MIT but it doesn't change the closed source stuff... So once again it benefits corpo more than most.

I suppose hardware folks could cook up some kind of RAID 5 style striped RAM layout and utilize a hedging strategy. Write out parity, drop a late parity read instead of using it for error correction. You get better results than double the

My understanding is parallel branches allow multiple changelists to be applied to a single workspace. eg you can have multiple WIP fix branches active in your feature branch workspace and not worry about polluting your feature branch with

Seems fine I guess. I'm not a fan of Perforce but it does have some features that git still struggles with and needs to address to break into new customers. This Gitbutler seems to address some of them but I can't say it really

What a strange take. Self publishing stores and cheap capable engines make things less accessible? I think you're saying this is because its hard to stand out with game design? But then AI will help good game design stand out? Wou

I don't know... I feel like a lot of these features do increase developer intent without breaking muscle memory. Properties are got and set like fields. Record types feel like classes with restrictions so the linter can warn you abo

There is a huge amount of closed source, ecommerce shops that use C#. Its popular in game dev too but TIOBE is probably attributable to the ecommerce. If you know Java, you should give C# a try. Its a slicker Java with some good decisions

Solo dev also just doesn't need a lot of abstraction. You're adding a lot of noise for what sounds like zero benefit to developer and especially not the player. Game dev is also a lot more agile than other projects. Solidifying

C# has fantastic tooling, though. Its a hidden feature but to the credit of the language designers, I don't think they often abandon compiler features for dev features. For example, C# chose not to go down the route of type erasure fo

The anemic open source projects are really from the lack of good cross platform support early on. That's changed now but it missed out on a time of rapid OSS expansion that Java and other took in. It is what it is but I wouldn't

Purity is overrated. C# is a kitchen sink language but you need give credit to the language designers. Compared to C++, for example, C# feels feature rich and consistent even though it abandons purity.
