Lets ignore the term perfectionism and its meaning for a second. We are people who build and produce (as someone in the comments so eloquently put it) and let say we set out to build X. X happens to takes a set of inputs and produces a set

I agree, it is worth the long read. "Let me make my own point of view clear - it is that the only position tenable from a viewpoint of strict empiricism is that the existence or non-existence of God are equally un-disprovable. Pointing to o

In the first statement you made, you can replace money with any other essential need that human beings have. My perspective has always been this; after you have achieved your needs for the money you need to stay alive, what do you do next?

The Gandhi part aside, I agree with your sentiments. Does money matter? The response I hear from most people is that, "It will matter when you need to put food on the table". This is undeniable but after we are able to accomplish this task

His second example seems to be closer to reality than the first one. In reality you are likely to have a set of programmers (more than two) with varying levels and communication skills. Added to that as somebody else mentioned, this is just

I'm not a pilot but if you replace the water with the runway you've got what seems like a perfect landing. Any HN'ers with aviation experience care to comment?

I understand what you are saying but I think most of the articles that say PHP is easy, they mean easy to set up and get started. I guess the right term would be as you said PHP is accessible.

This idea of "..and I think we do our best work when we are conscious of both(success and failure)." has always intrigued me. Do we really need to know the reality of failure? The explanation I can come up with is that the experience and kn

I think the author is aware of this but his "Don't bother improving..." statement seems to be a result of him trying to add more punch to his post. Seems to be a recent trend with his articles.

I've never found much merit in this approach to situations that you have little intelligence about. The way I see it there are two approaches, you can either ignore the details like the article says or you can try to think it through, find

I agree they have a very elegant design. I built a MVC framework for my project using their style and ended up learning a lot from them. Also, about it being a new framework; the last I checked they were making a big change to the routing m
