I went the opposite way when you bought your MBP - I left the Mac after years and switch to a Surface Book. I have a mag-safe-like magnetic power port, it's great. I have 10 hour batter life that is incredibly freeing. I have a dedicat

If you only look at Vue and React, you can see that there is an increase in Vue's share on the weekends. That may not be a true leading indicator of adoption, but it is hard to argue it isn't an indicator of increased interest.

That is very surprising. What kind of business pays more for card processing than hosting or rent?

Is it just me, or is this article using two different meanings of "coder" interchangeably when it shouldn't? Seems like searching Indeed for "medical coder" would lead to data entry jobs and the boot camp is softwar

When was the last time you tried? There are some file I/o improve EMTs over the past few months that drastically improved the kind of performance problem you are describing.

My main project is Ruby, but have a small (mission critical) app that is WinForms .Net. Developing with VisualStudio (not VS Code) inside a VM on a Mac is terrible. This is way better.

I don't know that I would call it a subset either. It's bash, all of it. And you compile for Linux, and it works. I develop a rails app on Windows using WSL daily. Ruby runs in Linux and gems compile to Linux, not win32. So there

I think the same argument should be made for NOT writing tests for a prototype. Build something useful, fast. Then refactor. Write tests when refactoring or fixing a bug, but not when prototyping.

Love "cash planning tool for startups" But Runway has a huge "spend other people's money" connotation to me. This may be great for us bootstrappers, but my initial assumption is that it's not made for me.

It is a more-native experience in the sense that for the open source developer, you are using the same binaries as are typically deployed in production. Pretty much no one hosts web applications on OSX, and you still run into the odd librar

Windows Subsystem Linux. Initially it was only Ubuntu, but has expanded to other sisters as well. It is not virtualization. It is native Linux in Windows.

I use WSL all day every day. There are two things holding it back from being a better *nix experience than OSX: 1) the terminal sucks. 2) WSL should be a service. Or at least we should be able to choose to have it always-on regardless of a

It has improved a lot over the past few months. There are some minor annoyances, but that is true with OSX too. In some ways, WSL is a more native unix experience, or at least a more native Linux experience. I made the jump in November and

This is an attempt by the banks to maintain credit card processing fees. They are cedeing peer-to-peer payments to try and keep Venmo et al from becoming ubiquitous enough to enter the C2B payment space.

It is much harder to integrate bumpers and lights than software products. There is a whole sales cycle in the auto industry based around new model years. The bumper factory and the grill factory have to bid for the new model. Then the autom

In reality it takes more than $4m to live off the returns, but that is a common dream. You can't pay your bills with a 10 year average. There are down years.

The reason companies move away from SMS is because they are using it wrong. SMS is for two-way communication and not notifications. I have a small company that is having great success with a niche product that uses SMS as a two-way customer

I am of similar mind re: github. Recently, I found viewing a potential hire's StackOverflow to be much more interesting than their github. You learn a lot about what kinds of questions someone asks and how they ask them.
