The only way is to have more resources so that others can do what you can't/won't in order to maintain balance. You can balance some aspects of healthy life (sleep, exercise, eat right), but that is more about maximizing than

It is a tool to leverage when appropriate. You can write tests when prototyping or you can borrow a little tech debt and skip the tests during the prototyping phase. At this stage it is like a line of credit. Then, as the feature/produ

Sounds like you aren't looking for a co-founder as much as you are looking for an employee. Guessing you don't have money to pay them though. If it is exploratory, you should write code that you both own. Build something that isn&

If their revenue model is based on people selling each other stuff, it will end up the LinkedIn for MLM. The Enterprise play sounds like a Holy Grail project. A social network, project management, ActiveDirectory/LDAP all-in-one? As a

I work with a leadership coach who works from the framework of DiSC (one of the personality tests). We meet every other week, set goals, work through problems, etc. I hired her when I was in a similar situation and had friends recommend her

I left Mac for a Surface Book a couple of years ago. It was a challenge at first. Largely because of WSL speed, but that has been mostly fixed now (test suite may be a few seconds longer, but it isn't 10x longer) I am browsing the thre

Not Mongo, but I am eyeing CouchDB, solely because of PouchDB. I am just not finding an easy and well-supported way to build an offline-first SPA/PWA backed by Postgres without handling all of the data syncing manually.

I second the WSL recommendation. I use it every day building a large SaaS product that is Rails (backend and legacy front end), Vuejs, C# (WinForms app for deep system integration on point-of-sale computers).

So, is this "laundry for hipsters?" Akin to all of the dopp kit stuff where mixing shaving cream with a brush is a better experience than just squirting some shaving cream on your hand from a can?

There are a lot of use cases where getting someone to install an app is a big lift. With PWAs, discoverability can be search ads, included in existing communications, linked from another app, etc.

I'll add a hardware rec to the Win10/WSL stack: the Microsoft Surface Book 2. The keyboard is great, screen is beautiful, battery life is great. It even has a magnetic power connector similar to the old MBPs. I don't use it a

Good point. I should have been more clear about "non-obvious" funding sources. If a service isn't profitable, but has a clear funding source (philanthropy, government, etc), that is a little different. But the motive for that

The lack of published pricing immediately makes me think it is too expensive for me. I pay for plenty of services, but "contact us" pricing either means "Enterprise" expense, or pushy sales people.
