I can second the author's conclusion. I fly regularly and have noticed in the last 6 months, PA systems have become much louder than usual on most flights. It's especially bad if you have headphones plugged in to the XM radio -- t

I tried running ads once, made about a penny in a month. Turned off the ads, cleaned up the site, focused on posting my notes/work, and ended up getting recruited through some engineers finding my posts when searching for info. To me,

Reminds me of the Android File Transfer bug that disables MacBook keyboard/trackpad if the phone is locked. It was recently marked as "obsolete", despite all Android documentation (and even software on the phone) suggests the

The title seems to apply to Apple, too (see iOS and Yosemite WiFi bugs), and could probably be applied to Google, too (Hangouts bugs, Lollipop problems, etc). But mistakes happen and many bugs are less obvious to reproduce than others, so I

I work for a university, and am a student at the same university. WiFi in lecture halls has been complete garbage since 10.10.1 hit. Students love their Macbooks, and in a room with 30+ of them, our wifi connection drops at least every minu

I second this. I'm part of Appleseed because I figured my use cases of my Macbook for development might bring out some less noticeable bugs. In the latest pre-release before 10.10.1 came out, the iCloud settings broke so that you could

Ok, since everyone here is making baseless claims about privacy, why don't we just buy one for science and monitor the network traffic on it? Problem solved. Getting really tired of HN stating obvious paranoia instead of talking about

I have a device similar to a Dropcam but by D-Link, and have it configured to transmit data to my NAS, rather than the cloud. I can then SSH in to view the images on it. If you want a camera monitoring your home, but don't want it stor

I get why people hate it, and your opinion is fine. But you're going to have a rough time building a web app if you hate JavaScript, even if you use a language that compiles down to it. JavaScript is at the heart of web apps, where DOM
