I have some pretty deep experience with this. I was a .NET consultant since Beta 2 shipped (sometime in 2000 iirc). Before that I was doing a lot of hardcore Win32 dev, mostly doing UI related stuff (was doing antialiased, alpha-channeled

Happens to me but only in areas with a weak signal (NYC). In strong signal I never lose a bar. At home, which is usually a dead zone - I was surprised to see so many bars with the new phone. But if I do cradle it with my left hand, the ba

Oh the horror stories I could tell you about Vignette from back in the 90's working for the big dotcom factories in NYC. This post pretty much nails it on the head.

Low latency audio, hardware access, virtual memory, et al aren't handled at all or well by NaCl. So something on the scale of Photoshop with it's ability to edit 250MB+ images is nigh impossible with NaCl. Something on the scale of Logic

But your claim that the iPhone doesn't do real multitasking is bogus, it's just that third party apps can't do it. Mail, phone, safari all run in the background. And in your sidebar you note which features can be done with a jailbroken iPh

Jailbroken iPhones can do: - "Real" multitasking - WIFI/Bluetooth/USB tethering without additional charge (well you pay for the app, in this case MyWi) - Install apps from third party sources (Cydia, Rock, etc) - Passive notifications (Emai

I did it today with iOS 4 GM. Not really recommended as most of the worthwhile apps aren't up to date: biteSMS, MyWi, etc. Best to hold of until they are updated. That said, I love iOS 4. Pretty rad.

All I have to say about PostgreSQL vs SQL Server is LIMIT ... OFFSET. I've been porting a SQL Server app over to PostgreSQL, but in the meantime having to maintain the SQL Server one. The lack of LIMIT/OFFSET in SQL Server is maddening.
