I'm stumped why memory management is so hard for developers, to the point I have to raise an eyebrow every time I read it. Are you seriously that lazy? The docs about it are fairly straight forward: http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/

Thanks for the great feedback! Will definitely keep you in the loop. I think I'm going to yank the FFMPEG encoding for now as there isn't an easy binary install for users, but it definitely will be in the V2. Thanks again!

MP4 is a no-brainer. I purposely limited this beta to .mov and .avi. MKV and OGV files are another matter all together. MKV files are weird and not suitable for editing at all, even with Perian. Same goes for WMV via Flip4Mac. OGV, I've

How about a first run "Welcome to Shave ..." kind of dialog? I can confirm that the inspector window is a bug. Thanks, will make the authentication flows behave similar. That's a bug with looping. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah that's been annoying me too. I'll make it an option in the view menu. Yes it's based on Quicktime. It uses QTMovie for most of the high level stuff, but I did have to dip down to the old school procedural QuickTime API for some stuff

Thanks! Good points. If you don't have any videos, you might try a screen recording tool just to get something going. I envision one of the intended uses for Shave is editing together screencasts. That's what I use it for at work now. Th

3.0 of what? I wasn't clear if your blog is about a particular framework/language (I'm guessing rails?) Not validating input to a function, in general cases, is a bad idea, imho - tests or no tests - but that might be a matter of style or

So instead of validating input into a function, I should write a test, a factory and a bunch of other shit? No thanks.

Maybe, I mean that whole culture sort of died out and moved onto parties at clubs which has a very real profit ceiling. The biggest party I threw drew close to ~6K people at $30 a head. After expenses we cleared about 75K. All in cash, mi

You're being naive if you don't think any of that is going on at his parties. Even at our parties, in a drug steeped culture, we'd give you the boot if you were openly doing drugs, selling pills, etc. As would most "above board" promoters
