Born in 81 here. One of my childhood memories is of watching the broadcast of the flyby of Neptune in 89. I believe it was on PBS, or something similar. I just looked it up, they had something called Neptune at Night that broadcast from mid

Same. It pops into my head a few times per week that I haven't thought about global climate change recently, and it is because we are dealing with the more immediate thread of hypercapitalism-authoritarian-christofascism, and my neighb

In baseball you DO differentiate between whether you struck out swinging or looking. It matters for the pitcher because if you can disguise your pitch well enough that it looks like a ball coming in but is actually a strike, so that the hit

Are you using a ThinkPad? My work laptop has this issue too, on windows 11. 75% of the time I have to unplug the monitor after waking up the laptop. 20% of the time it works. 5% of the time it has 640x480 resolution, and I have to unplug it

We did this when I was in a band 25+ years ago. Record the song, quickly burn it to a CD, then drive back to campus in our shitty Honda Civic or band pickup truck and listen to it. It was 90% just to listen to what we made, but hearing it o
