In general, I think there should be a high burden for most folks on whether custom code should be permitted in these cases. I have absolutely seen the same, and this almost always comes after someone makes a reasonable decision to go with C

I think a lot of this advice does not apply widely outside of the federal government. For example, I sell COTS software to school districts. There are 15,000 jurisdictions in the US that operate autonomously, but to achieve very similar goa

Tons of former Stata users are now R users, especially over the last decade. Stata pretty much lives in Econ departments now.

As someone who buys this for every employee at his organization, I couldn't disagree more. It's a huge deal that I can control who shares and sees what vault, turn off an employee's access as soon as they are leaving the comp

The default in Overcast is to delete after listening and to save only 3 episodes from each subscription, which is quite sensible IMO.

Actually, zero calorie stuff is pretty much by definition stuff we haven't decided to "deal with". It doesn't get absorbed directly, and we never created a means to break it down into something that could be absorbed. Th

Post R 3.1 there are far fewer deep copies (e.g. modifying a list or adding a column to a data.frame no longer copies the whole thing like it used to).

This task sounds almost uniquely poorly suited for R, but this has gotten better. For example, adding a column (did you append to the right or do an actual merge/join?) used to require copying the previous table but doesn't any mo

Yup. Not offering me a 15 day trial makes it super hard to know how it will work with my two email providers, not to mention the advertising video and site make it very hard for me to understand how using the app is like.
