How about a lanyard that has a magnetic connector (like Apple charging ports). So it just a small amount of force to disconnect, but easy to stick back together if you forget it was there when you got up to visit the rest room. Another tho

How about a multiple column AND partial index? (that may have been what you are suggesting). Best of both worlds? I just tried it, and it does work (at least on 9.4). Here's an extremely contrived example with a rails 'users&#x
