Brixon, did you ever have to handle drafts or documents/records that needed approval workflow on update or creation? I'm currently debating whether or not to implement drafts/revisions in the same table for simplicity at the

I do something similar because we have drafts (first drafts and drafts of existing records) in our system. My question is whether there is any downside to maintaining drafts and historic revisions in the same table opposed to maintaining it

Got it. What's the overhead of using RubyEncoder or some sort of code obfuscation/loader protection technology? I'm interested to know how much it costs compared to straight up MRI/JRuby.

Agreed. SMTP is such a lasting protocol that it is unlikely e-mail will be replaced in the long term. I certainly think improvements can happen on the server side, but the protocol has good failover, and for the most part, the reliability i

How is that irrelevant when you ask > Why so? That's pretty much what the state does, it provides advantages for situations it wants to see happen more (tax breaks for instance, dispensations or fast tracks, direct monetary grants)

I don't. I'm in support of gay marriage. You were giving me reasons why the state/society shouldn't allow sibling marriage.

Then by what you wrote, gay marriage shouldn't be palatable to the state or society, since same-sex marriages usually do not result in natural children with today's technology. So we shouldn't provide any advantages to gay m

If we are to use the biblical sense of marriage, the Old Testament has a few incidents where a man was married to multiple wives[1]. Then if we are to be traditional, can a marriage not be among multiple people? Since we have denied same-se

Refusing to register or to give a license is the same as denying an application. I can apply for a liquor license and the state ABC can refuse to give me a liquor license or refuse to register a liquor license and it means the same thing.

For the sake of argument, if you want to marry your sibling, and your sibling consents, are we to judge that? Aren't we holding a double standard if our religious or moral standards are opposed to that? Or are you saying the government

Well stated. To see "polite" culture in China, just watch some old 1930s movies. There are also some modern movies that have tried to copy "politeness" patterns of 1930s and 1940s China, such as Ang Lee's《色戒》.
