Thank you wheatBread for taking the time to respond. I appreciate the practical lens with which you've described how the language can influence code. Many language geeks far too often remain too abstract about how a craftsman programme

Thanks a lot for the response. Your comment about constraints improving design makes a lot of sense. As to libs similar to React, I assume you're talking about Mercury and Mithrill. But I'm quite happy with React's performanc

I've been thinking of giving Elm a go, and this walk-through is very helpful in breaking the initial barrier. Exciting to see these ideas finally giving us answers on how to do user interfaces on the web right. ReactJS has also converg

The OPs question was whether Capitalism as we understand it now, is suited for the future when we expect most kinds of labour to be done by machines. We don't need fully self-aware machines to get to that point. For example, when self-

This question has more to do with how we think about abstractions than React itself. In plain CSS, you can specify a specialized parent -> child rule that affects the component just in this context. Or you can have two different classes

Thanks for your thoughts. I should clarify what I meant by templates. Templates are driven by content, not by logic, and they are typically monolithic. This works well for web pages which are about content which doesn't have much JS. T

Thanks for responding. You might want to look at insin's comment above. In insin's code example, the conditional doesn't work on a component, but does on a normal HTML tag. Would that be a bug? The lack of true conditionals i

Thanks a lot, this clarifies it. Having only CSS based hiding of components (and only if wrapped within a div) is a bummer. I am curious to know how the authors plan to work around it for serious app development.

I am not sure I see the value over React yet, but the more experiments in the field we have, the better we collectively are. So thanks a lot for building and open-sourcing this. Is there a non-trivial example of a Riot project that we can l

In your typical React component, you'll keep state in the parent, and pass them down as props to the children's subtrees. You also have to pass down handlers (`handleNameChange` for example) along with the props so that the child

I respectfully disagree. You'd need flux when you have too many stores talking to each other. Not every app becomes complicated enough to warrant that. You can get started with using an EventEmitter based Store and later refactor into

You can use React without JSX. It is especially easy if you are using CoffeeScript which makes the syntax quite terse. I personally like JSX. It is more of a variant of Javascript that lets us mix HTML into JS seamlessly. It was inspired fr

We ended up with a similar solution as well. Large grids were rendered using jQuery's DOM methods. The data-flow was made explicit, and the view was updated whenever any change was needed. React embraces the explicitness of data flow i
