Since police are also there to combat murderers, gang members, drunk drivers, etc, your statement does not even begin to become valid unless police numbers are put against terrorists plus all those other groups. It's total nonsense.

So, I don't get all the pain. There are a lot of 'rules' around monads, but conceptually they are widgets in a workflow. In imperative programming you say what you want to do and do it at the same time. With monads, you asse

At least two of those of which I can recall were women. But the idiom is "to a man". It might be sexist of me to change a gender neutral idiom to be masculine, but using an innocuous masculine idiom is not harming anyone or prom

Your argument sounds good in theory, but a lot of us have the experience that 'good managers' are unicorns. Before my start-up, I was a dev manager. And a damn good developer. I knew what technical difficulties my team had, and

For those complaining about the verbosity of c#, here is an alternate c# representation: public static void Main() { const int n = 21; Observable.Generate<double,double>(1, x=>true, x=> 0.5 * (x + (n&#

I wouldn't say it's about ends justifying means. More that I don't think you can achieve the harmony you seek. The reason I prefer my metaphor to the left/right driving one is that I intended to allude to the complex

I think Paul nails it. And I think there are a lot of really misguided social engineers in these comments. Treat people well and fairly, all along and throughout life, and let nature take it's course. Are things imbalanced right now?

Like any fashionable word, "growth hack" is being assigned to all sorts of things that it wasn't meant to mean. This article attacks those other things, and not the core of what 'growth hacking' means. A code hac

IANAL, but I believe you are technically wrong that it's illegal. Saying more, has however, been used against companies in civil court, with damages awarded, even when the 'more' said was completely accurate.

I can't think you really believe that to be true. Your description says you are a neuro-scientist. So science is just something you say? If you say it, it is true? Or do you usually try to provide supporting documentation? Show sta

That would be our high priest caste of "scientist" from which all knowing is given. We needn't evidence or studies, people, the 'scientists' said it is so. (FWIW, not a commentary on source link, just on parent com

Novice question: A given dendrite has a voltage raise, presumable because of transmitter from a neighboring neuron. That voltage increase will always be local unless it is adequate (as it spread and dissipates on its way to the cell body)
