Of course there is; tmux does it. Try redirecting the file descriptor so that you can capture stdout. For bash, something like: 'exec > >(tee -a "$LOG_FILE") 2>&1'. This could be injected in .bashrc, and act

This is extremely relevant. Finland is basically Sweden without mass migration. The cracks in our society that the multi-culti ideology has opened up is difficult for an American to comprehend, because you never experienced the benefits of

Great movie. I noticed the character Gogo Yubari in Kill Bill was actually stolen from Battle Royale.

Very useful tool. The tmux/screen requirement is a design flaw though.

I've concluded that a selective backup of the homedir is a better strategy than having dotfiles under version control and such. Keeping track of every little file is just too taxing. The movie collection belongs in the ignore file thou

Maybe none, but at some point you may want to do other things at buildtime, such as generating an sqlite db or generate code stubs for protobuf. Having a universal, and highly refined, tool like Make will help developers without domain know

I'm thinking before we build a CI/CI pipeline, make sure there is a Makefile. Why have they gone out of style?

I'm thinking if the metric system was invented today, distance would be based on a light second somehow.

Would be interesting to see if any of the probes survive 50 years in space. More impressive if V1 continues to transmit beyond 1 light day. That would be June 2028.

I have been doing this for a while. Voila: #!/usr/bin/env -S uv run -q --no-project --python ">=3.12" --with "openai"

I would recommend relative symlinks (ln -rs). Makes it easier to rename the homedir for example. On a copy-on-write filesystem, linking may not have much utility vs. copying.

That is a misconception; there is a cost of abstraction, although this cost may disappear if AI gets really smart.

It's a good idea, but a better idea would be to make the browser a virtual machine running wasm. HTML, SVG and everything else could be implemented in wasm, and loaded from the cloud as needed.

I have a thing for old worn stuff. Like to reuse my old trainers for walking some extra distance and such. With Linux, computers don't slow down with every update. I use an old Nettop as a Debian server. Unlike Raspberry it comes with

Too late Borg! I specifically chose Restic for the Rclone support. Can't change backup strategy now. It also save me once. Pcloud lifetime + Restic, all in one repo, to benefit from dedup.

Swede here. Talked to an Arab immigrant about this. He brought it up, and he thought it was a great idea. Will pay itself back many times over.
