Apple were interested in making sleeker machines not faster machines. They went so overboard that yes while the CPUs, SSDs and RAM are all faster the overall machines don’t feel faster in general use and yes do feel buggy. Apple had to admi

This looks excellent, will take a bit of time to go through and understand. The announcement blog is really helpful actually and explains the problem you're solving well (and one I am intimately familiar with so I see value here). Con

Wow so many points to address. First up, you wrote quite a bit but never expressed something super important - do you enjoy developing, do you feel happy doing it? Or is it just a job and a means to put food on the table? Secondly, technolo

Mistake maybe but I disagree on the ‘biggest’ part. For me type erasure is a bigger issue. I get that it was done for backwards compatibility but the drawbacks imposed by that decision seem to only grow as more time passes and more new comp

I must admit I saw this when it was first announced and I didn’t get why it was better but seeing it again and having more time on my hands I intend to experiment a bit further. Congratulations to the author for their success - it is clear

Desktop and laptop vendors were heavily invested with Intel before now. Apple was heavily invested with Intel before now. Don’t underestimate what cloud vendors will do in pursuit of cost or efficiency - they are ruthless at both.

Really, the US system of manually extracting data from peoples physical devices seems so much more old-fashioned compared to the Great Firewall of China. There really isn't much difference conceptually between the two systems.
