Every time I see things like this, Accelerando is the first thing I think of. Also, if you like that, you'll probably like Life Artificial by David A Eubanks: http://lifeartificial.com/

If it's open-sourced, shouldn't everyone be able to (eventually) just toss it up on their own personal Linode VPS and use it for themselves?

I just integrated Filepicker.io with a client site ( http://SetForMarriage.com ), and it works amazingly well. Choosing pictures from Facebook/Dropbox is great for mobile users, and uploading via webcam is awesome for people who don't know

You can do it pretty easily with Automator (comes with OS X) http://www.peachpit.com/blogs/blog.aspx?uk=Mac-Productivity-... I'd recommend changing it to "Get URLs of images linked from these webpages" though, to get the high-res version.

Oh god, I just finished integrating Filepicker.io with a client site and I was thinking "man, it would be great if the button showed an indicator that it was done uploading". I think I'm in love with you guys.

It's very useful for top-level navigation when using the "infinite scrolling" that seems to be so popular these days. It makes it so you don't have to scroll all the way back up when you're 10 pages deep.

Being anti-semicolon in JavaScript is kind of like being anti-parentheses in Lisp. The automatic semicolon insertion is a "feature" to give some leeway to new/sloppy developers, not a real feature that good developers should use.

I like the look of the old icon better, but at a glance it's hard to tell what the app is for. I'd say keep the old icon, but replace the C with a film reel like in the new icon. Then it stands out enough to find it in a folder (because tha

I have hope both that Apple is secretly working on an amazing set of augmented reality glasses and that the patent will be somehow overturned.

What's up with it showing directions to Moscone Center and then when he closes it there is something about Wooster College? I don't wanna call fake, but that's definitely strange… Then later on he asks a question about Wooster College Edit

I know we've all read about the exciting "external brain" aspects of augmented reality in books like Accelerando, but sheesh guys, we have to start SOMEWHERE. If I have to buy 10 pairs of Google Glass to light a fire under Apple, Qualcomm,

I'm not sure that art has to create beauty. I can understand why a statue of Jesus submerged in piss is art (it makes a statement and is intended to shock and disgust), but flowerpots on pedestals doesn't evoke any emotion aside from disdai

This is the best way to get a "natural" development environment (i.e. as close to production as possible). Also, it's a pain in the ass having to start and stop various apps and remember ports, which is what Pow is great for in the first pl

This is a pretty cool idea, but it could easily go out of control if even one news outlet picks the story up. I'd raise the price by a lot (like $9.99 a question), in order to keep volume reasonable.
