This would actually be really handy for all of those one-off weekend project ideas I never get around to.

Ok, is it just me or does reading the text on that page give you the feeling that it's computer-generated? There are so many odd word and phrasing choices (that don't seem like the kind of mistakes a non-native speaker would make), that it

I'm relatively sure that if there's enough public outrage and media coverage, some of the bought politicians might reconsider. I mean, COICA didn't pass after all, right?

Most of my conversations with "norms": "Hey, want a Google+ invite?" "What's that?" "It's like Facebook, but without Farmville." "Sweet, send it over!"

It's ok to call him a "douche" though. (Not defending him, just pointing out the irony)

Having one man insult women doesn't necessarily generalize to the entire male population, but what is damning is when a man insults women in a public setting under the assumption that nobody will criticize him for it (implicit acceptance).

At the first Ignite San Diego, one presenter gave a talk comparing working in the tech industry with being a pick-up artist. I think it was pretty comparable to this presentation, but I remember the general opinion being more that it was mo

It's sort of like Twitter was back in the day: a good place for techies and techie friends to nerd out away from the noise. I think it will probably take off, just based on the fact that I'm actually still using it (unlike Buzz or Wave).

If G+ doesn't add official company pages, people will just create fake accounts for their companies anyway. Happened on MySpace, happened on Facebook, and it will happen on Google+.

Putting it that way, it actually does sound like a good fit. Guess I'll have to reconsider my vote :)

Oh totally, I had some really fun times and met some great friends in the Navy, and I'm glad I did it. I also gained a ton of technical knowledge in a very short amount of time, which was fantastic. It wasn't the rank structure or chain of

Gandi is pretty awesome, but just be aware that your credit card company might freeze your card the first time you buy from them (apparently buying domain names in other countries is a fraud trigger) :D

Even though it seems like it would be pretty cool, I said no for a couple of reasons: 1) I'm not sure I could hack it there. While I consider myself to be a good coder (and people tell me so), I don't consider myself to be a top-notch guru

Most of the "I hate Haml" arguments can easily be solved by use of filters (e.g. :markdown, :textile, :javascript, :plain, :erb, etc) and/or proper use of helpers or cells (I prefer cells). The things I most often see people doing wrong are

I think the main advantage is it doesn't require Haml. I use Haml whenever possible, but I could see this being very useful for Node.js or other JS/CS-based apps.

I've gotten a lot of business from my long-lost high school friends (and long-lost high school enemies too), so each trivial status update is like a precious little gem to me.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet, but the "Send feedback" widget in the lower right is amazing. It seems to be inspired by Safari's Web Clips, and I hope it won't be long before someone better at Javascript than me reverse engine

Yeah, but unlike Google Wave, you don't really have to explain it to people. "It's like Facebook without all the Farmville crap" seems to suffice for even the least techie of people (as long as they are already on Facebook).

It started to get overloaded and throw errors right before they shut down email invites again last night, so I think they're likely trying to scale up as quickly as they can.

On one hand, there are always going to be people who don't get on Google+, and Sparks is very basic so there's always room for someone to do it better. On the other hand, I'm not sure it would be possible to make any money on it, other than

Well the only one thing I do know that's a huge pain about having a California LLC is the $800 minimum tax. It sounds like you might be making enough that you owe more than that though.

I think as long as your business has a presence in CA (like your office or home office) you still have to pay taxes. Of course, you could register your business in a state that doesn't disclose stakeholder info, like Nevada or those Wyoming

On one hand, more government regulation brings things like Sarbanes-Oxley. On the other hand, you get faster, cheaper Internet access, and arguably more jobs from that. This is why I cannot bring myself to identify with a political party.
