It's always been a toy on Windows. I absolutely agree that on MacOS, it's a solid option. The OS X version is a very good browser, and not to be dismissed. The Windows version however was always an also ran, a weird proof-of-conce

The tech preview was very promising. It's definitely something I'd like to keep an eye on.

I have some serious issues with Chrome (the permaloading, it's new download blocking 'feature', poor startup time), but I did not find Firefox remotely an improvement. On my system it is half as fast, twice as buggy, and even

I wonder if you feel that you ought to be at your desk for at least the bulk of the traditional working day... Other people are working 8+ hours a day, so I should be too. What I learned as a writer is, focus on output, not time-spent or

My rule of thumb is, generally, "Is the creator still earning from this product," and in the vast majority of cases where gaming software is concerned the answer is no. There is a push through sites like GOG.com to put many old

The notion that this move would buy them any credibility with developers is completely laughable. Why should I trust a company with my hosting who, last time I used them, waited less than a day after expiration to sell my almost completely

Fair enough. I haven't kept up with the numbers in a while. I can certainly understand the price issue, it's the reason I went with a WP here in Finland: My Lumia 1320 was only 300€. Nothing comparable for Android or iOS was avail

I was really aggravated by this. You can't even test shit locally without the license, VS throws a fit and demands you buy one, and then even if you cancel it it flags your install to nag you relentlessly to buy the bloody thing over a

Pretty much only Finland, really, and that's because of the local Nokia brand loyalty and aggressive local pricing. With MS axing the Nokia brand, I see Samsung picking up the slack easily if they dare to compete on price like they do

WinPhone8.x is a fantastic mobile OS. The interface is great. I've dealt with some bugs since switching to the developer preview, but that's to be expected, and my experience running production code was always rock solid. But the

Did you read the whole article? The studies cited point to this being the case in a lot more than just one instance. Even 'successful' crowdsourced efforts like Wikipedia are scarcely without their problems.

Maybe such 'controversies' would hold a lot more credibility if they were actual controversies instead of the paranoid conspiracy theories of fedora-hatted misogynists? Just a thought.

Like I say, it's a minor barrier, but it's sometimes enough to not feel like bothering with unless it's very important. Every time I want to write a new post I have to: 1. Start Emacs (I could use something else here, but
