Where are you? I'm at 57deg north, and I totally agree that getting outside is important when you go to work in the dark and come home in the dark.

These days I go to bed around midnight, give or take half an hour. I get up anywhere from 5:00-6:30. If I can get to bed around 10:00, I wake up at 4:00 or 4:30. I can't remember exactly what happened when I first stopped using the ala

I'll put in a plug for ditching your alarm clock. I was a terrible snoozer for years. At my worst, I went through a bad progression: I moved my alarm clock across the room, so I'd have to get out of bed to hit snooze. I got so I c

My kid will turn 4 in March. It's much better these days than when he was an infant, but there are still many interrupted nights - dreams, peeing, just coming in to say he's awake. It's sweet; I wouldn't give it up for t

I wonder if the cultural shifts - the pivotal moments in history - were more significant between 1955-1985, than 1985-2015. Between 1955-1985 we had the civil rights movement, the moon landing, the Vietnam War, and the final decades of the

I grew up in the 80's and saw the original Back to the Future in a theater. When I was a kid, I remember thinking 1955 was ancient history. It's pretty wild that young people today, like the high school students I teach, feel the

Can someone compare this to Django/ Flask? Would building a project with Falcon be similar to building a project with Flask? This looks interesting, but I'm not well versed at evaluating a new web framework. I've built a few

I wonder if you could build in another method as well, that isn't dependent on a second person agreeing on the purchase. Maybe something that would put in a time delay on any purchase screen. A 24-hour delay on clicking submit for a pu

I'm familiar with C and Java, and I can build viable projects in Python/ Django. To expand my understanding I'm looking at Go or Haskell next, although I might take a quick spin through Rails to see how it compares to Django.

His work sounds easy enough to test: hang a weight in an electric field, and the weight moves farther than it should. Has there been any effort to independently test what he claims to have discovered?

If you do submit to HN, don't get too tied up in whether it gets any attention or not. Plenty of quality submissions slip by without rising to the front page. That said, it's really fun and enlightening to see a high-quality conve

Your English is not "bad". There are some technical grammar issues you'll continue to work out, but the meaning in your writing is perfectly clear. That makes it pretty easy to overlook anything that's not quite correct

I'm not sure you know how difficult some administrators can make it for people to teach well. Teaching is hard enough, when people who have power over you actively get in your way and set you up for failure, that's pretty difficul
