Not really, many people still have to go to work, even with childcare closed. WFH is a privilige, not burden.

But daycare closed is a different problem. If childcare would be closed, and you still had to commute to office... WFH saved you in this case.

》For the working parent whose productivity has been slashed by 50% and stress has gone up by 50% due to parenting obligations, WFH might be terrible. And working at office with 1 hour drive home, makes those parenting obligations somehow ea

DRM stuff does not really work outside US, especially in India. Most electric vehicles here are ebikes or small three wheel lorries. Many use recycled laptop batteries or even lead car batteries.

Hm, decades is not that much, most enterprise code fits into that. But how about 200 years? It is about people. Documentation, paper trail why some decisions were made, archiving build tools, VMs, dependency source code.. Also C, POSIX and

Major cost is reliability. Also design for deployment is complicated. Spitzer telecope was expensive for foldable mirror. Cheap rockets with fast deployment would be game changer.

Cheap rockets will make space telescopes way more accessible. Ground survey telescopes have serious limitations. So for science this could be a positive thing. I am more worried about monopolies and accessibility of this new internet. If it

Could you explain a bit more? I think most pkg repos are just static directories. If you do https reencryption, and https certs do not match EVERYTHING will break.

How would make ARM chip DDR RAM cheaper? I expect Apple to finally fix cooling and power management, but that is all.

Good luck. I work on similar OS database engine for about decade now. It is not bad, but I think consulting is better way to get funds. Also avoid "zero gc", JVM can be surprisingly good. Will be in touch :)

I started on "paper computer" [1]. Real hardware was crazy expensive, even ABC technical magazine was difficult to get. https://cs.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pap%C3%ADrov%C3%BD_po%C4%8D%...

Neutrino detection is very slow, it is averaging signal over several hours to transfer a few bytes. Useless for HFT.

Old thinkpads have usually bad display and bad battery life. Maybe if you replace half components it is decent machine, but I would rather use something like this.

OS with decent and predictable support are not easy to find. Windows can change overnight after a big update. Most devices you mentioned are junk, since ssd is soldered on motherboard.

I read some advanced physics czech book from 1991, just after velvet revolution. It was written on type writer, charts and formulas hand drawn. Xeroxed to final count of 500 copies. You work with what you got.
