I believe GPU would be more expensive, it would increase human labor too much. CPU is universal and has more RAM. Optimizing very sophisticated ray tracing for GPU with tiny amount of VRAM could be very tricky. It is easier to do dirty cod

In IoT only one person is needed to change a light bulb. But it will take 7 days of soldering, debuging and reverse engineering :)

"free lunch" is just untrue. Opensource and GPL does not work this way. Also Redhat just cut support on one of its projects. Their business model is build on their reputation and long term support. Not best long term move.

Well, I would consider myself to be an audiophile. I got professional level equipment for about $400 many many years ago. Today it is probably even cheaper. I spend a lot of time on PSU, interference from power grid etc... Solved by $20 c

I think it is rather naive view. Audio market is an industry with professionals. You can buy spare parts for 30-years old studio headphones. Apple with their "no repair allowed" business model and 500ms latency is a joke.

$500 for headphones is fine, if they would last 20 years. AirPods look like flimsy plastic stuff. For portable heapdhones they are not water resistant, do not fold and not even come with hard case. And given apple, there will be no spare

Pressure wave moves at speed of sound. Lightweigh capsule gets destroyed just by derailing at 500mph. Any bad event will put down ALL trains on track. And rescuing people trapped in 100 miles long steel pipe... Hyperloop is a nightmare!

My point is about doing research without PhD as a hobby. Since I would not get paid anyway, I do not see reason to spend a few years, just to get paperwork sorted. Most data are publicly available. Most researchers are very happy for helpin
