There is one form of harassment though, if you run even just a TOR Relay you tend to be put on realtime blackhole lists regularly which will cause random websites to refuse your connection. Things like banks, ticket sites, even your insura

I switched from T-Mobile to Google Voice a few years ago for this reason. With 5 lines on the plan the T-Mo version was way too expensive. But then Google Voice raised their prices and T-Mobile offered as much better multi-line discount a

I have some (somewhat older) OrangePis here that came with a board covering heatsink with an integrated fan because it turns out they really need it. The things get hot to the touch when working hard. I don't have any power measureme

When people talk about the “AI bubble popping” this is what they mean. It is clear that AI will remain useful, but the “singularity is nigh” hype is faltering and the company valuations based on perpetual exponential improvement are just n

It's hard to imagine getting work done on a shared Z80 machine with everybody sharing the same 64kB of memory. Z80s were already plenty slow and the working memory tight. Sharing that with other users sounds miserable.

I wonder if you couldn't do something incredibly simple like get some pressure treated 4x4 posts and use a router to make shallow slots for the panels to sit in. Plant them the right width and run a 2x4 along the bottom to let the pan

Solar panels are somewhat high tech, but wind turbines are 17th century technology. The electric motor you need to attach to turn it into a generator is also pretty low tech. You can even use lead acid batteries to even out the power deli

Electrification of transportation is already well underway. Obviously ships and planes will lag behind, and may even be forced to use biofuels if we run out of fossil fuels, but the idea that the world will stop when we run out is outdated
