Nice idea! First I was thinking he will use NE555 to convert the sensor reading to variable frequency and reading that. Generating a signal then reading it back with the same soundcard is neat.

1. Prevent protocols to cross layer boundaries. FTP, SIP, etc. are application protocols, yet they use ports and IP addresses for identification of endpoints. They break if the transport layer does something they did not anticipate (e.g. NA

I'm starting to think this is on purpose. Sometimes I get tricked twice, after pressing back and immediately going to click the correct link this little bastard materializes under the cursor.

Server power supplies are impressive. I pulled out some PSUs from old scrapped servers. In a smaller form factor than ATX they deliver more than 1kW power. You read that right. 100A at 12V actually.

In Slovakia it does have legal power. The advertising law prohibits unsolicited advertisment by paper mail, e-mail and telephone. For paper mail it's opt-out (No junk mail sticker). For email and phone it's opt-in (no cold calls).

Some vendors can not get even the simple SNMP right and will send OIDs in wrong order in WALK, causing a standard-observing SNMP client to prematurely end a subtree walk or to loop forever. And the SNMP is mostly read-only, usually only bas

I used this once to precisely derive one-second clock signal from system clock on a MCU. Usually you use 32.768kHz crystal because it divides nicely to 1 Hz. I did not have it available and needed to use sytem clock that was not very precis

I managed to break a btrfs filesystem by exhausting metadata blocks. The filesystem would show as 50% occupied, but 0 bytes free. Everything started crashing. The resolution is to run btrfs balance to free unused metadata blocks. There is a

I would be wary about this, as the nice badges can change to ads or inappropriate content anytime in the future. But the idea is nice, self-hosting this would be safe solution.

Not only contrast, but also the gamut. If display is capable of 255 levels of color and you remap 255 to e.g. 128 to leave the rest for HDR you have only half of the possible colors available for SDR. Or how is this supposed to work?

I don't get it. Are they compressing the range of SDR display for SDR content so that HDR content can now use the full SDR range of SDR display? As in "we crippled your SDR display so that you can more enjoy the HDR content and bu

Also I don't understand how this works with IPv6 initiative that wants every device have a public IP address. The same goes for IPv4 routers - on many of them you could use the public IP to do the drive-by attack.

I don't get it. What's wrong with normal CORS? They do work for private networks. Also I don't think browsers are the right place to do this kind of protection.

I see the main problem of XML in it's model not matching the data model you usually work with. In code you work with arrays or structs/objects that have members. Members can be other structs or arrays or primitive types. Arrays ca
