Yeah but that only blocks browser based ads - what Apple is doing here is blocking trackers at the OS level - this is what FB is complaining about since their SDK allows the device to be tracked - not just browsers.

I'm almost 50 and have been doing my "own thing" full time since 2004. I'm not rich, but have been able to be home while my 3 daughters have grown up. I spent 18 months traveling around the country with my wife and kid

Our society includes people who are over 50 - how do ensure that YOU do not transmit coronavirus to them if you are under 50 and asymptomatic? I know a lot of people are pretty upset but it's not just about YOU. It's about every

I'm not an PG user but there does not appear to be an index on tweet.time - and even if there was wouldn't it better to do ORDER BY tweet.id DESC? I assume ordering by primary key is going to be the fastest, and would (ideally) p

Apple needs another "Snow Leopard" release - spend an entire year not adding anything - just focus on making everything work better, fix bugs, etc.

Hulu on my Apple TV is excellent - I find the interface to be much less "noisy" than Netflix and I like the large back catalog on a lot shows. Honestly I subscribed for one show (forget what it was now) but found I liked it a lot

I don’t believe there are maps in PHP - just plain arrays which to be honest are pretty simple to use. Unlike say JavaScript where arrays are always numerically indexed, PHP can use any value as an index.

Yep this is the ONE thing that kills FF for me. I use an external 4K display (via Display Port) on a 2015 15 inch MacBook Pro and Firefox basically just spins the fans up nonstop while it is running.

Southwest Airlines early check in is $35 at ticket purchase time or $40 at the gate. When flying with my family that’s an extra $200. I like southwest but this is one thing I really dislike about them.

I think a lot of HN users like to think of themselves as early adopters of new technology and are disappointed for missing out on the crypto highs at the end of 2017. I think they feel if they could have been in the loop at that time they

I agree 100% and have long felt this is the right approach. Basically the bigger you get, the harder it gets to keep getting bigger.

We have most of that in a union. You can literally trace the decline of middle class income to the decline of union membership - i.e.: https://www.russellsage.org/sites/default/files/Stone_Arthur...

I agree 100%. The approach I like is what I call "lowest negotiated price". How it would work is that buyers (i.e. insurance companies) could still negotiate for a lower cost, but whatever that cost ends up being is the cost _ev

I buy mostly Apple specifically because I find the build quality ensures they last the longest. I'm still using a 2009 Macbook on a daily basis, and my youngest daughter is using my original iPhone 4.

I'm not sure if you are running OSX on a multi user server, but is this something we need to worry about on our laptop? It's not clear to me what needs to be done in a single user situation.
