My wife keeps showing me studies of how a certain amount of hours per day of television correlates with retardation in children. This retardation was measured by being intellectually behind in development by 6 months to 1 year. My kids don&

The benchmark linked appears to be a 4x speedup that can potentially be attributed to the view engines used. It's really ridiculous to argue for 20x speedups without evidence of the deficit being in the web framework. So lets take your

Honestly, add another machine and the problem is solved. youll be able to afford a team of programmers to rewrite your app in any language of your choosing by the time you feel the slow down. I'm using .NET core for a production app no

It's not 30 times faster. Also, it doesn't matter which one is faster unless there is. Huge speed improvement. Your web server is not the bottleneck.

I was shown a video by my father who owns a Cirrus of a parachuting plane on fire. It may have been the fatality. I believe the parachute works beautifully, but you have to make sure you use it correctly.

.NET standard looks like a description of features, but not its implementation. It's the standard to which all other .NET implementations are measured by. .NET core is the new guy in town that is cross platform. ASP.NET Core is the web

I personally wouldn't suggest pretending that your opinions are different for any reason. There is a way not to give your opinion without being disagreeable. The article, however, suggests changing your deeds based on who you are inter

I understand the behavioral part of the article. The part that gets me is "...call for acting and self-presentational skills that favour people who change their deeds to fit the situation." The part about changing your deeds to fi

I agree with changing social styles to engage people in a better way. I don't agree with changing your opinion to engage peers in a dishonest way.

You are right. This is what gets me. There is way to be political without being a complete liar, which is what this article purports to be the correct approach. Honesty is rewarded with loyalty.

No, I am very neutral, but it's good to check myself. I just vent on HN. I believe the eye rolling is not just people in my group. It's a response to repeated promises that go unfulfilled. They are actually quite verbal about it t

I was responding to the logic that all victims are equal, which was expressed in the parent post, but you knew that and are clearly attempting to bully and distract.

I hate chameleons. You know who else hates chameleons? Everyone on my team. The key is to back up what you say with actions. That way if you talk too much like I do, you don't lose credibility. Actually, every person on my team rolls t

You work from local databases. You keep a migration script that sets up the schema and another migration script that sets up the data. If you create a feature, you must add to each script when merging. You can run unit tests by creating tra

Stored procedures are easier to deploy than table schema. You just need to drop if exists and then create them. Table schema is the hard part since there is overhead associated with creating an index on an existing table and with renaming a

I used a google paper's approach in a mosaic competition. I didn't end up submitting it, but I got it working. It uses locality sensitive hashing to hash vectors into buckets. These buckets are a subset of the total set of items.

Angular isn't really OOP. ES6 made JavaScript more like OOP. Typescript just applies types so you can lint your code better. I am rewriting a React/Redux app I wrote to Angular 2. It's more readable, the control flow is easie

Angular 2+ is very different than Angular 1.X. The single directional data flow removes the need for digest cycle tweaking. You only need services for data and components for rendering and business logic. The benefit over react is how you d

I read elsewhere that only a few outsourcing companies made up the lions share of h1-b visas. I wonder how much good talent we are missing out on due to the increased difficulty to get an h1-b.
