Put the no procrastination setting on to short value with a long interval and take a break for a few months. I do the same from time to time and it stops the muscle memory of hitting compile in my IDE and then opening a tab with hn.

I just witnessed an example of more or less this at a startup I’ve been contracting at. The engineering team on the core product is tiny with no slack for extra projects. One non-technical founder and a few other non-technical people build

Was it ever a good place to work? When they opened their Berlin office the word was the mobile team was a revolving door of contractors doing append-only development on a monolithic RN app. It already seemed dysfunctional then.

I guess you need to put automation in-place that interrupts these people when they're trying to deploy something broken. Tests, linters, static analysis etc.

Software is currently extremely inefficient, driven by years of increasingly powerful cheap hardware. Once that starts to slow it makes sense that we start squeezing efficiency out of software again. We’ve also seen in the last 20 years the

I’m trying to relaunch my indie app which did have success getting a lot of users. But I failed to properly monetise it and the support burden and stress on top of a full time job drove me to pull it from the store. I’m attempting to relaun

Cows still need water from somewhere in those areas you’re talking about. If the land is particularly poor it also won’t produce enough feed and will have to be supplemented with feed that requires water and energy to grow somewhere else.
