Maybe building a consumer app for iOS/Android - you can pick a pretty standard idea or look through the list of popular apps and implement something similar with IAP. You won't make a living doing this without serious investment i

I think there was also a period post 2015 MBP up until the new M1s now that the laptops were pretty bad and had a lot of points of failure. The current ones seem like a return to a more robust workhorse to me. I was lucky and and had a 2013

Just speculating but I could imagine trained dogs used for hunting or guarding camps might have been too valuable to risk experimenting with food on?

Yeah I agree it's great from that perspective but the business goals very rarely make it a priority given the added complexity. Even supporting offline-first style workflows is step up as you can tolerate more downtime on the backend a

Yeah I'm aware - I got the impression from your comment you were advocating for a more pure P2P approach (not necessarily CRDT related).

Yeah good point, but I wonder if their products have a larger market and the price point is about double what this is going for. I also noticed they have an add-ons store, not sure if they take a cut there too?

Yeah, people in this thread are praising the one time purchase but I'm almost seeing it as a red flag - how do we know a niche product like this will stick around without recurring revenue? I don't know if that's paid major u

I completely agree and had the same thoughts reading that. K8s for an MVP?! Throw that thing on a PaaS and forget about ops altogether until it's too expensive. I think it's really good advice for developers wanting to launch thei

Yeah, I hadn't heard the term "flow typing" before but I thought the same thing, in other languages I've used you'd use a Result type and a switch to do what the author was doing.

At least we seem to have gotten out of the childish period of "oopsie doopsy" style 500 pages. Although I guess we're also in the everything is an SPA period where a website will just break in opaque ways you won't even

I think this is generally true and agree 90% of the time although I've once seen the opposite in which what was otherwise a successful small SaaS severely underinvested in product. They had an MVP that they basically left unchanged for

IME the expectation is you have pretty deep expertise of the platform, especially as a contractor and this takes a surprisingly long time to build on either of the mobile platforms.

While I agree ideas are cheap I think you're probably coming at this from the wrong angle. If you ask people what problems they have it's quite likely you won't actually find ideas people are willing to spend money on, or eno

This essentially mirrors my experience however the codebase is more around 50-50 split AppKit / SwiftUI, most controls we tend to use AppKit and layout and display SwiftUI. I don't actually think the integration is too painful, la

Hmm I think that issue is overstated, I use a split keyboard in my coworking space, I go between it and my laptop keyboard at home regularly. Once I feel where I’m typing my brain seems to figure out pretty quickly and adjust.
