Not a go dev but I have dabbled. I get the impression that the sweet spot for go is not in building standard crud web apps but for specialised network services and tooling. For those reasons big heavy frameworks don’t seem popular.

Is this a product of the way modern MBAs are taught? Seems to be a standard playbook of building reputation, scaling and then aggressive optimisation and cost cutting.

But only through their opaque sync service right?

Probably true. However, I interact with a bunch of broken systems all around me, in the real world, all the time. I'd also wager that I waste far more than 20% of my time on some of them.

The "Why Edge Compute?" section compares running OCR on a Cloudflare Worker against on-device but the first two advantages also apply to running on-device (low latency and low cost). Is this a mistake in the article or do I not un

I haven't used it in a long time but we had a lot of issues with random crashes showing up in logs and the compile-times are pretty bad. Has this gotten better since the Mongo acquisition?

To be slightly pedantic and clarify. It's not actually anything to do with Core Data itself but CloudKit that is doing the syncing, more specifically, NSPersistentCloudKitContainer which came out a few years ago and makes adding CloudK

Can UUID v7 still be created independently, on a client for instance? Or do they ideally need to be generated in the same place?

Thanks for the detailed response. I took a look at a post where react was still used and driven by server-side state using liveview hooks which looked quite interesting.

OK, so by mixing it with a JS library (Alpine.js) by the looks of the source code.

Whenever I see examples of LiveView being used it all works seamlessly but the UI always looks very simple, like basic forms, links and buttons. How does one build more custom/complex UI controls with it?

I think the reality is that neither of those outcomes are desirable and your statement doesn't do anything to support the OPs case. Both are wrong.

Yeah, I really can't tell if it's satire. Especially things like this: > I’m not smart enough to figure out how to transform data between different layers of the system, so I just don’t. I use the same represetnation in the UI

Yeah I get it. But from someone who's sold software this way before, for paid up front to make economic sense it needs to be a quite a significant amount. Majority of people don't want to commit to this.

Unfortunately it looks to be mostly papering over Core Data, after a few huge Core Data projects I don't really care to work with it anymore, especially in SwiftUI. The more interesting addition to me looks to be CKSyncEngine, which wo

Yeah I tend to agree. I also feel like the majority of my deeper software knowledge has come from reading/modifying existing code, debugging and reverse engineering rather than actually writing code.

What about them, indeed. What about the parolee's ability to protest unfair treatment or prison conditions? Or the single mum who isn't able to protest her unfair dismiss at the risk of a 50,000 dollar fine?

I think the way it's done is correct, an object passed as a parameter with key value pairs for attributes seems a lot more logical.
