As I've gotten older I've noticed I've become more pessimistic of changes in the field. Occasionally a really good idea comes along which sticks. A lot of the time though it feels like a new hit framework is cooked up every w

Feels more like an Evernote clone to me, though it needs a lot of work. For instance when you load a note you need to click edit to enter editing mode which coming from Evernote feels very clunky. I'm also not sure why there needs to b

To me this article was more about how Twitter can be an unfriendly place. If you think about it, on Twitter the barrier between people is pixel-thin. It's pretty easy to get into an argument with someone with a single tweet in mere sec

I tried selling a Mac on eBay once. First attempt I got a time waster, second attempt I got a con artist, third attempt my account got suspended. eBay is great for buyers, a horrific minefield for sellers.

To be quite honest the most shocking thing I found about antirez's post was not the post itself, but the boiling hate surrounding it.

It's great to see Lazarus finally maturing. What used to be done in an expensive IDE costing $$$ can now be done with free open source tools. Simply amazing.

After years of using VM's to virtualize Windows I finally broke down and got a real, physical Windows box. On my space-constrained system, a VM often ended up feeling more of a parasite than a useful convenience. Initially I was just using

Dynamix was closed 4 days after Torque(then called V12) v1.0 was released. GarageGames itself was more of an ex-employee spin-off (created several months before the closure) to sell a game engine using the Tribes 2 tech.

Torque pretty much started my development career, so this is great news to me. Its suffered a bit over the years, especially after InstantAction folded. Even so there is a sizeable group of indies who use it. I myself have been involved wit

My only problem with Cygwin is that installing and updating packages is a pain since you need to use the setup program. Apart from that it works great for what I use it for - a unixy shell with ports of a few tools I like using.

IMO this site is a nice reminder that no development community is immune from drama. Every line of code risks controversy. Every interaction has the potential to turn into a debate. A single action can lead to completely new ways of thinkin

I have to say, i'm impressed. One of the biggest reasons I never really used GIMP on OSX was that the X11 version never really felt right. This version in comparison feels a lot better, though there are still a few annoying things about it,

It might look a little bit like OS X Lion, but it's missing over 200 features which make Lion... Lion, not to mention it doesn't even run OSX apps!

To me a Let's Play is a useful insight into how someone else tackles a game. Commonly if I am stuck, I will look for a Let's Play video to see how it's done. It's also great being able to see the ending of a game which you find impossible t

I'm not quite sure how you could mistake The Ville for The Sims. Besides both games being set in a buildable house with interactive objects, the games are largely completely different. From what I can tell, It doesn't even simulate people.

Personally I found the "L" shaped connector to be far worse since it blocks ports and encourages one to bend the cable when inserting and removing, easily leading to a frayed cable.

I like the idea of QR codes, but I've never seen anyone scan them in public. In fact, the only thing I keep hearing about QR codes is how stupid they are and how they should be obliterated from the face of the earth.

I looked at bitcoin a while back when the hype was at its peak. Sadly though by then mining using normal equipment was impractical, so i just ignored it. Do people actually use bitcoins nowadays, or is it more of a speculative market?
