It's also easier. When you try to be nice and offer constructive criticism/reasons why you said no, the other party can oftentimes get worked up and it becomes a much more stressful situation than it ought to be.

I know of people who enter med school in their late 30s/early 40s. So no, you are not nuts. Life isn't a race.

One of the slides says that good designers should know how to code. On the one hand, I have enjoyed doing front-end code for my projects. But on the other hand, during my time at a large agency, designers NEVER coded because of the division

I like the idea. I think there should be a skip button as there are a couple sites that I wasn't able to review properly (one specifically asked for people to review it in another language and the other required me to sign in). I also think

Since Apple typically caters their decisions to the majority of their buyers (as opposed to those power users who look specifically for the most up-to-date tech specs) this decision makes a lot of sense. Having more battery time is rather l

Well it depends on the type of project. If it's something small with benefits to social causes, I know many designers (myself included) would be willing to do it for free or at least, take a loss on it. Otherwise, you can look on Craigslist

I would think that there are more cities that are poorly planned not because of a concerted effort to allow it to grow organically, but because it's difficult to plan the expansion of entire cities, especially in the cases of those that are

At a place I used to work at, this small group mentality was pretty successful, though it was usually a selection of top tier designers/developers/project managers. It just meant that if you were a part of it, it was amazingly fun. But if y

Maybe I'm being naive (as I'm not a programmer), but the brand value in this case is negligible. The type of work supersedes anything and if you feel that you'll develop yourself more and embrace the work at Amazon, then that's an easy choi

How many users actually use share buttons? It seems like most people I talk to (granted, they are either interactive designers or developers) just copy and paste the URL to their medium of choice.

I think for a general designer, using a grid is probably the best method because... it takes a lot of skill to actually break the grid in a method that is still readable yet a well-styled execution. I definitely upvote the notion that using

I'm a designer and the only way I've been able to find great freelance coders is through friends. Sorry that doesn't help but maybe going to some programmer meetups would work effectively. I just say this because for designers, the best way

Baseline is where the bottom of a text character sits. Sidenote: Parts of a character that descends past the baseline (characters: y, p, q, j) are called descenders. In graphic design, baselines are used to align content in different column

From my perspective as a designer (I make this disclaimer since I could be talking out of my ass), these CSS frameworks seem like an easier way to implement a grid system in a web page. I don't have to define the width of the grid or gutter

True. I mean, on the startup I'm working on ( http://www.votereports.org ), I threw away baselines on the instructional area largely because I wanted to make the page seem more dynamic and very different from rigid designs I've seen other p

I like the fact that more people are trying to incorporate baselines into their grid. This is another one I found ( http://baselinecss.com/ ) but I much prefer the one in the OP.

I do think it's a bit ridiculous to have a graphical logo in the signature. It's an unnecessary exercise in promoting the brand than anything else.
