I believe tilde notation is meant to bridge the gap between a pure mathmatical behaviour analysis and realistic expectations when using an algorithm. Analysing an algorithm and determining that say for 2x input size expect 8x resource usage

Interesting point. I doubt go would let something as low level like struct padding bubble up into the language though, perhaps there could be some kind of library level "Unsafe" field annotation, though I'd prefer the compile

One of the harder exercises I had attempted in my linear algebra course was the "connected tanks of water and salt". After searching for the solution, I found this awesome resource that combines linear algebra, differential equati

I too was put off at first when Arch moved from rc.conf to systemd as I found rc.conf simpler to use, though I trust there was a good reason to move as they are pretty good at managing the distribution. Rachel mentioned why binary logging m

There is cgo which allows one to call into C controlled code. That to me is best of both worlds, working in Go when I need to and memory control when needed as well.

Actually, I found it to be one of the best links that has come up in the last few days on HN. It, to me, is a critical look at what ways these amazing tools created by the tech community are used for. For example, reading the comments about
