No details on what caused it yet? Other than a failed update.

I wish! My boss at least is checked out and lazy, so he's completely missing the fact that the rest of my team is pushing AI-generated patches that immediately fail testing because they didn't bother to sanity test before pushing.

Ah I remember Dev-C++ - not bad for simple stuff, but I tried using it to import a Visual Studio project (which worked) but it wouldn't compile due to it not having any compiler intrinsics headers.

Yeah I mostly still use Google out of habit but there have been a few times where Google has decided something isn't worth indexing (too niche, doesn't use SSL). I miss when Google was like a grep for the entire visible Internet.

Been there before too (though an alternative to MediaWiki). A few important pages were migrated but we just ended up with two wikis with lots of tech info on the old one and lots of marketing info on Confluence.

Yep, a friend recently told me that he remembers working somewhere that gave away old empty server racks - they were unnecessary, and expensive to store, so why keep them?

I once had a coworker tell me about his young son's circumcision. Not really something that should be discussed in the office...

Yeah I agree. I'm still very careful who I trust but it doesn't hurt to try and build a network.

I log into Discord maybe once a fortnight to check what's going, and every time I land in a channel, it shows me the newest handful of messages, and I need to scroll back endlessly to get back to where I actually left off.

I'm pretty partial to Groovy's JSON library - it has a nice syntax it just works (caveat that I had issues once where the size of the JSON was multiple megabytes and it corrupted).

Yep, very very true. Unfortunately some of the places I've been at more recently have believed that mock servers are the best way to do end to end testing. It was a battle I couldn't win, but no one was willing to see that testing

I worked in a team with no QAs for a while - testing was done by developers and there were a lot end to end tests. It worked pretty well - I think a couple of small bugs got through, but whether a QA would have found the issues is debatable
