This is a valuable argument (learn in context, vary the context), but the mention of "people learn their MT without Anki / grammar / study" always bugs me. First and Second Language Acquisition is just apples to bacon. T

That is a legitimate problem of SRS (recognition vs knowing), I use a few ways to avoid it: -Don't do many repetitions of the same card. Eg. if i want to learn 5 new specific words, maybe I use 6-8 sentences that each use 2 new words,

I like it less than I wanted to. The overwhelming majority of posts get 0 votes and 0 comments, even if it is not a site with that much traffic. It feels quite desolated, tbh.

Congrats on the project, but do I hate domain hoarding. It does not contribute any value to the society, it just makes finding a decent domain name a royal PITA.

If you need games to motivate yourself, something is off. Don't take this the wrong way, but that is not a very sustainable way to keep going forward. You'll get tired of games way way earlier than learning a language

Exactly, agreed. Antoine de Saint-exupéry had a similar way to put it: "It's the time you wasted on your rose that makes your rose so important" I don't know why he chose that word, but I love that choice "waste&quo

Isn't a technical challenge, too? T hose languages have barely any presence online, so there isn't remotely enough data to make a good translator... just look at Whisper accuracy for less institutional languages, for a reference

Yeah... I think there is a very fine and blurred line between using AI to augment / enhance something, and to completely replace it. And generative AI, kind of leans more in the later... at least, in the way it is being used now: Machi
