Hahaha, good point, you know I knew that but just didn’t think it through. I’d still like to make it though…

Good old daringfireball! Ah, of course it makes sense, things akin to the shift+enter for adding new lines in messages without executing them or vice versa. I should’ve known.

The devil is always in the details with these studies. What did they measure, how did they measure it, are they counting learning the new tool as unproductive time, etc etc etc. I’ll have to read them myself. Regardless, I’ll be sad if it m

Thank you! I appreciate it! However I will quickly say I’m not sure I would say I’m _completely_ fine with phones getting increasingly locked down. I said it’s probably not a good thing, and I also made no statements about a possible future

I’ve had an unlocked phone before, mostly was like “that’s neat I guess” and I haven’t felt any need to return back to it. It doesn’t add anything much to my life. That comparison really isn’t fair. Also your comparisons to “kicked in the f

Maybe if you’d put them on “chemical” instead of “not purely chemical” you wouldn’t have ended up with the need to act passive aggressively ;)

Huh, TIL. I do wonder though what programs are looking so specifically for the exact Enter code.

I wonder if I should make a joke menubar program where every time you make a newline while typing it sounds a slide-ding noise! I might do that…

Not the person you just spoke to, and I don’t have any skin in this game, but technically speaking we don’t know if it tripled because of him or despite him, right? The truth is likely somewhere in the middle, but who knows where exactly.

I’m 100% serious, and I believe most people are with me. It’s a minor inconvenience at most for 99.9% of users. I don’t actually think it’s a good thing, I just don’t personally feel as strongly or in the way you’re describing. I’m sorry i

I mean, personally I don’t feel like my user rights are being kicked in the face just because my smartphone is more locked down than I’d like. I’m all for more power to the user, but that seems a little strong.

I’ll admit it’s possible my estimates are off a bit. What isn’t up for debate though is that it’s made a huge difference in my life and saved me a ton of time. The fact that people overestimate its usefulness is somewhat of a “shrug” for me

We live in a strange world when people are intentionally making their devices worse to use to try and discourage themselves from using them
