I've always equated javascript without semi-colons with missing comments and poor commit messages. It's just inconsiderate to other developers who have to read your code. I understand that it is a "feature" of javascript

Apologies, yes it was an attempt at humor. I was hoping for more of a discussion on the two approaches though if your still game.

I personally reject the notion that "...A Good User Interface has high conversion rates and is easy to use". I don't agree that it is a requirement that a good UI has high conversion rates. In fact I would argue that software

Today's centralized networks do not exist because of a lack of discoverability. For crying out loud dude, Google solved the problem of discoverability by crawling the "decentralised" web.

But.. but.. disruption good! Some things have already been disrupted. The 40hr working week being a great example. I'm really beginning to wonder if our industry's fascination with young, gullible and naive staff is actually healthy any mor

In what way is "keeping prisoners in prison" related to the "well-documented cluster-fuck that is the judicial system in the US"? Keeping prisoners in jail is absolutely required. Determining if they should be in there in the first place is

Interesting analysis, though personally I sit firmly in the camp that software are tools and as such should not express a "personality" or attempt to provide an "experience". For me, this suggests that straight nouns should be used for this

Doesn't this miss the point of Markdown? I thought the main selling point of Markdown was that for plain text reading i.e. the markdown was clear and understandable as plain text. This introduces a bunch of additional features that can ONLY

JSON and other non-natively-hyperlinked-media (e.g PNG, MP3, etc) can use the Link header to add hyperlinks. It's HTTP that is hypermedia aware, not the content-type, so you dont have to go out and invent image/png+hal. TL;DR You dont need

They arn't. Stephen Few wrote a really good book a few (ha!) years back called 'Information Dashboard Design' (0596100167) which addressed the issue of circular dials and gauges. Here is a good essay on the subject by Stephen Few ( http://w

First of all, you are quite right for pointing out that the style-de-jour is 'minimalism' for app and web designers. I too feel that there is something missing from the current attempts. It is my understanding that Minimalism is a process,

"There's no standard way of getting across what a link is to another resource, or where that information should go." That doesn't quite mesh with my understanding. Some media types support hyperlinks, like HTML, which describe how links sho

Just thought I'd add that a lot of people are raising the issue of discoverability in restful services. From what I have read this is dealt with with three key constraints: mediatypes, link relations and HATEOAS (hypertext as the engine of
